Container train with Belarusian cut timber to leave for China on 24 July

MINSK, 22 July (BelTA) – About 2,000m3 of Belarusian sawn wood will leave Belarus for China on 24 July on board a container train, representatives of the Belarusian logistics company RUP Beltamozhservice told BelTA.

The train will travel for over 7,000km over the course of 14 days. “Railway transport is one of the most economical, reliable, and precise ways to deliver freight. It is universal for transporting large amounts of merchandise across great distances. This is why it enjoys a high demand on the market. The main advantage of container transportation by rail is the absence of additional transshipment operations,” the source said.

Since 2016 Beltamozhservice has been developing projects that envisage freight transportation by rail as part of organized container trains within the framework of the Belt and Road initiative. In H1 2020 Beltamozhservice sent nine container trains (about 500 containers) to China in transit via Russia, Kazakhstan, and Mongolia. The total volume of delivered products stands at 12,000 tonnes. The time in transit is 14-16 days. The freight destinations in China include Taiyuan, Changsha, Qisumu. There are plans to increase the frequency of departures of container trains to four times per month.

Beltamozhservice representatives noted that customs service bodies and organizations constantly work to simplify procedures in the area of international transportation between Belarus and China taking into account strategic cooperation of the two countries. “As it sends off trains, Beltamozhservice offers a full set of logistic services, including freight consolidation from any part of Belarus at its own freight terminals. The company takes orders for transportation, storage, and phytosanitary control, customs clearance of the necessary transport documents and other ones, sealing, forwarding services, customs declaration, and the rest. And all of that is done within one day,” Beltamozhservice representatives noted.
