MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus secured her second win at the ongoing Qatar Total Open in Doha to reach the quarterfinal on 26 February, BelTA has learned.
In the round of Last 16 Aryna Sabalenka needed just 55 minutes to see off Greece's Maria Sakkari 6-3, 6-0. A week ago the Belarusian defeated the Greek player 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 in Dubai.
In the Doha opener Aryna Sabalenka outlasted Estonia's Anett Kontaveit 7-5, 2-6, 7-5. In the quarterfinal the Belarusian will play either Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands or Zheng Saisai of China.
Aryna Sabalenka and Belgium's Elise Mertens won the doubles opener against Bethanie Mattek-Sands of the United States and Belgium's Kirsten Flipkens 6-7, 6-2, 10-7. The Belarusian-Belgian tandem will next play Canada's Gabriela Dabrowski and Latvia's Jelena Ostapenko.
At the TEREGA Open Pau Pyrenees in France the Belarusian-Israeli duo of Andrei Vasilevski and Jonathan Erlich will face Russia's Teymuraz Gabashvili and Slovakia's Lukas Lacko in the round of Last 16.
