MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – The second competition day of BRICS Games 2024 in Kazan, Russia will feature 40 medal events, BelTA has learned.
The opening day of the games brought Belarus 13 (1-7-5) medals. Vasilina Khandoshka will try to reach the podium for the second time today with her solo free program. The Belarusian duo of Marharyta Kiryliuk and Valeryia Valasach will compete in the women’s duet free in the Water Sports Palace in Kazan.
Belarusian sambo athletes won five medals of BRICS Games 2024 on day one. Competing on the second day will be Daniil Patachyts (80kg), Siarhei Lesiak (98kg), Dzmitry Khakhlou (+98kg), Daniela Zhdan (65kg), Anzhela Zhylinskaya (72kg), Karyna Shut (80kg), and Valeryia Khrushchova (+80kg).
The karate tournament, which is kicking off on the second competition day will feature the Belarusian team of Aleh Melekhin, Maksim Kashirski, Artsiom Krautsou, Tsimur Budzko, David Nguyen, Raman Chymbur, Volha Barodzich, Ulyana Markava, Iryna Sharykhina, Aliaksandra Palyn, Maryia Azarava, Veranika Baravik and Viktoryia Rudzenchanka.
The rowing competition will feature Mikalai Sharlap, Mikita Karneyeu, Andrei Fedarenka, Viktoryia Vasilyeva, Alena Furman, Siarhei Valadzko, Dzmitry Furman, Dzianis Klimiato, Anton Kupalau, Veranika Anatsko, Palina Zalatarova.
On 13 June the Belarusian men’s table tennis team defeated Tajikistan 3-1 to reach the semifinal. Today Belarus will face Russia for a spot in the final. The Belarusian women’s team lost to India 0-3 in the quarterfinal.
