MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 125 Ilya Ivashka has progressed to the third round of the Rogers Cup Toronto 2018 after seeing off U.S. world number 59 Ryan Harrison 7-6, 6-4, BelTA informs.
The action-packed opening set brought up a tie-break. The match was stopped early in the second set due to rains. After a pause Ilya Ivashka moved forward more confidently and secured a break at 3-3. In the decider with 5-4 the Belarusian produced good offence to secure a win. This success will take the Belarusian into the ATP Top 100 next week.
In the round of Last 16 Ilya Ivashka will play Kevin Anderson of South Africa who defeated Russia's Evgeny Donskoy 4-6, 6-2, 7-6.
