Russia's Bolshoi Theater to tour Belarus in November 2023

MOSCOW, 25 October (BelTA) - The Bolshoi Theater of Russia will come on tour to Belarus in November 2023, director of the theater Vladimir Urin said at a press conference dedicated to the beginning of the tour of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

"I am happy to welcome our colleagues from Belarus. Our theaters will exchange tours. The Bolshoi Theater of Russia will bring its productions, both opera and ballet, to Belarus, to Minsk in November 2023," Vladimir Urin said. He noted that the theater is now putting together the playbill. The tour program may include the Italian opera Adriana Lecouvreur, which the theater is planning to premiere in early November 2023, the head of the Russian theater informed

Vladimir Urin also said that the exchange tours are the idea of Director General of the Bolshoi Theater of Belarus Ekaterina Dulova. "The tour is a really big event for the musical and theatrical culture of Belarus. This is a new page in the relations between the two main theaters of Belarus and Russia," Ekaterina Dulova emphasized.

In Moscow the Belarusian company will show two important productions: Vladimir Soltan's King Stakh's Wild Hunt produced by Anna Motornaya (25-26 October) and Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker produced by Valentin Elizariev (28-29 October).

King Stakh's Wild Hunt to the music of Belarusian composer Vladimir Soltan, based on the same-name novel by Vladimir Korotkevich is a national musical classic piece of Belarus. The opera premiered in July 2021. Every time it has drawn a full house. Anna Motornaya's production won the best musical theater performance award of the national contest for the best cultural patriotic project.

The Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker premiered in 1982. The production starred many generations of ballet stars of the Belarusian Bolshoi Theater. It has been warmly welcomed not only at home but also in many other countries during tours of the Belarusian ballet company. The new version produced by People's Artist of the USSR and Belarus Valentin Elizariev debuted in October 2020.
