Belarusian Women's Union delivers 1,500 items of clothes for refugees

GRODNO, 24 November (BelTA) - The Belarusian Women's Union has delivered 1,500 items of clothes for refugees staying at a temporary accommodation center on the border, BelTA has learned.

“Today, the refugees are going to have a bathing day. That is why we have decided to bring them clean clothes. The clothes are meant, first of all, for women and children, as they will be the first to have baths,” said Irina Stepanenko, head of the Grodno Oblast organization of the Belarusian Women's Union.

Earlier, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus brought humanitarian aid for refugee children. “We have brought zefir, chocolate and other sweets made in Belarus. We have also brought coloring books and crayons so that children could have some fun. This is not the first humanitarian cargo from the trade unions. We ask in advance what people need and collect the right things. Help is very important, because refugees are hostages of the situation,” said Yelena Golubeva, head of the main department for culture and social affairs at the Council of the Federation of Trade Unions.
