MINSK, 11 June (BelTA) - Azerbaijan is not just a partner for Belarus. It is a close country, Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova said as she met with Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Sahiba Gafarova on 11 June, BelTA has learned.
“We are really pleased with your visit and are confident that the agreements that will be adopted as a result of this visit will give a new impetus to our relations,” Natalya Kochanova said. “Azerbaijan is a close country for Belarus. It is not just a partner. Our peoples are truly kin nations, friends. Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko says so, and we realize that such special relations between the countries and peoples are the merit of our presidents.”
According to the speaker, cooperation between Belarus and Azerbaijan is steadily developing in all the areas. “These are trade and economy, humanitarian affairs. Inter-parliamentary cooperation is of high importance for us,” the speaker of the Council of the Republic emphasized. “Constructive interaction has been built between the MPs of our countries. I sincerely thank you, our Azerbaijani colleagues, for the assistance you provide in supporting our country on international platforms, in international organizations. It is of great significance for us. We realize what a difficult time we are living in and how important the consolidation of MPs is today.”
