Winners named of Belarus president’s special prize for art luminaries, For Spiritual Revival prize

MINSK, 31 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has bestowed the prize For Spiritual Revival and special prizes for culture and art luminaries. The head of state signed the relevant decrees on 31 December, BelTA has learned.

The Belarus president has bestowed three prizes For Spiritual Revival in recognition of active humanitarian efforts, which helped bolster spiritual values and moral traditions of the Belarusian nation and contributed to the patriotic upbringing of young Belarusians in the year 2024.

The staff of the Minsk Applied Science Center of Surgery, Transplantology and Hematology was awarded one of the prizes for outstanding accomplishments in improving the quality of medical aid, development of science and the popularization of ideas of charity and mercy. The staff of Belarusian State University of Culture and Arts was awarded in recognition of vigorous efforts in the patriotic education of young people and in the implementation of the project “Memory line. Code of war”.

Archpriest Oleg Kuntsevich, father superior of the parish of the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross in Minsk, was awarded for his great personal contribution to the cause of spiritual enlightenment and patriotic upbringing, immortalization of the memory of those who died in the Nazi death camp for Soviet prisoners of war Stalag 352.

The Belarus president has bestowed eight special prizes upon artists and cultural workers in recognition of their publicly recognized outstanding achievements in the field of musical, monumental and decorative and applied arts, folk and amateur artistic endeavors, education and upbringing of young artists.

The following art collectives have been honored with high awards:

Youth Variety Theater - in recognition of significant achievements in the field of musical art, active participation in the public and cultural life of the country;

Gomel children’s social boarding house “Happy smiles” - in recognition of development of the creative potential in children and young people with disabilities, integration of inclusive art into the cultural space of the country;

Minsk State College of Arts - in recognition of fruitful work in the field of education and upbringing of young artists, active social and patriotic activities;

Minsk State Palace of Children and Youth - in recognition of significant achievements in patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, organization of the work of Honorary Memory Watch Post No.1 in the hero city of Minsk.

In recognition of the contribution to the reconstruction of the memorial complex in memory of prisoners of the Ozarichi death camp in Kalinkovichi District, Gomel Oblast a special prize was bestowed upon the team of authors consisting of Olga Achapovskaya, Head of the Bureau of Project Chief Engineers of the civil engineering design company Institut Gomelgrazhdanproyekt, Viktoria Zayats, Head of the Science and Enlightenment Department of the Gomel Oblast Museum of the War Glory, and Zinaida Khlebovets, Head of the branch “Memorial complex to prisoners of the Ozarichi death camp” of the Kalinkovichi Local Lore Museum.

For the implementation of the international youth patriotic project “Roads of memory and glory” the Mogilev Oblast organization of the Belarusian republican youth union BRSM, the television and radio company Mogilev, and the Mogilev Oblast Local Lore Museum named after E.R. Romanov received a high award.

Special prizes were also awarded to Tatiana Lapkova, Head of the Traditional Culture Department of the Vitebsk Oblast Methodical Center of Folk Art, in recognition of her personal contribution to the preservation and popularization of a birch bark braiding technology for pottery, and to Irina Shavelskaya, a master of folk arts and crafts at the Grodno District Culture and Information Center, in recognition of her significant contribution to the preservation and popularization of traditional crafts, revival of folk straw weaving technologies.
