MINSK, 9 April (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived to watch the first game of HC Dinamo Minsk in the second round of the Kontinental Hockey League playoffs, BelTA has learned.

The Dinamo Minsk hockey players are facing HC Ak Bars Kazan in the quarterfinals. The best-of-seven series starts in Minsk Arena on 9 April, with the second game to be held in the same venue on 11 April. The teams will then move to the Russian city of Kazan where they will play on 13 April and 15 April. If necessary, games five through seven will take place on 17, 19, and 21 April.
BelTA reported earlier that the Belarus president attended the first game of HC Dinamo Minsk in the KHL playoffs this season in Minsk Arena on 24 March. From the stands he watched the match against HC Dynamo Moscow. In the series against their Moscow namesakes the Minsk “bisons” delivered an excellent result, winning four games in a row and securing their spot in the next playoff round.

Aleksandr Lukashenko attended a training session of HC Dinamo Minsk players in Minsk Arena on 2 April, had a warm conversation with the players and coaching staff, and brought them treats.

Speaking on behalf of all the players, the team captain Andrei Stas thanked Aleksandr Lukashenko for his support and invited him to the first game against HC Ak Bars Kazan in Minsk. “You need to come. Definitely,” he said.

“I am ready to spend the night here if it means you will win,” Aleksandr Lukashenko replied. “Play decently so that people don’t feel disappointed in you.”
