FM: Belarus, Myanmar consistently develop mutually beneficial friendly relations

MINSK, 10 January (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maksim Ryzhenkov took part in the Belarusian-Myanmar Business Meeting in Yangon, the economic capital of the country, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the meeting, the Belarusian minister emphasized that Belarus and Myanmar have been consistently deepening mutually beneficial friendly relations, the aim of which is to improve the well-being of the citizens of both countries. “We proceed from the fact that the economies of our countries are complementary. We only need to effectively use this in practice,” Maksim Ryzhenkov noted.

The event, which gathered about 90 representatives of business community and government institutions of the two countries, was organized by the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry jointly with the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry. Representatives of Belarusian and Myanmar companies held a series of negotiations on cooperation in agriculture and food, pharmaceuticals, supplies of Belarusian vehicles and procurement of a number of goods that are of interest to the Belarusian business community.

On behalf of Myanmar the event was attended by Chair of the Myanmar Economic Corporation Nyo Saw, Union Minister of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations Kan Zaw, and Union Minister of Commerce Tun Ohn. Maksim Ryzhenkov took stock of the joint work in a separate meeting with his Myanmar colleagues.
