MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Tula Oblast of Russia need to find new points of growth, Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich said at a meeting with Governor of Tula Oblast Dmitry Milyaev in Minsk on 5 November, BelTA has learned.
Viktor Karankevich thanked the governor for the great attention to the cooperation with Belarus. "I am convinced that following the current visit we will find new promising areas of growth for further sustainable development of our cooperation. As the Belarusian head of state said earlier, we are open to any mutually beneficial proposals and projects," he said.
Tula Oblast is an important trading and economic partner and also a strategic partner of Belarus. "As far as the statistics are concerned, in January-August of this year bilateral trade between our countries gained strong momentum. The trade has soared by 37% year-on-year, amounting to over $413 million," Viktor Karankevich stated. "It is important that Belarusian export to Tula Oblast is also growing. So are the supplies from the Russian region. Under the sanctions pressure, we need to move faster, build up our cooperation, and find new points of growth," he noted.
