MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarusian agricultural workers have completed planting of vegetables, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
As of 23 May, spring crops were planted on the area of 2,274,100 hectares. Planting was done on 91.5% of the area in Gomel Oblast, 86.6% of the area in Mogilev Oblast. Planting in Brest Oblast, Vitebsk Oblast, Grodno Oblast, and Minsk Oblast has been completed.
Belarusian agricultural workers continue planting buckwheat (25,000 hectares, or 75.5% of the plan), millet (6,960 hectares, or 73.3%), flax (44,800 hectares, or 100.4%), sugar beet (94,900 hectares, or 96.3%), vegetables (4,970 hectares, or 103.7%). Maize was planted on 1,041,900 hectares, or 97.9% of the target. Potato planting has been completed
A total of 2,274,100 hectares of soil (102.4% of the plan) was prepared for sowing spring crops. This year, these crops will be planted on the area of 2,221,900 hectares.
