MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich outlined promising areas of cooperation with North Ossetia during a meeting with a delegation from the Russian region, BelTA learned.
Traditionally cooperation in the manufacturing industry is the most important. The deputy prime minister also highlighted the cooperation in agriculture and said that each side has its own strengths in this sector. This allows complementing each other across many positions. “The Republic of Belarus has a significant export potential in terms of food products and agricultural raw materials. We are ready to increase exports of food products in demand in your region,” he said as addressed the head of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania Sergei Menyailo.
Belarus has gained a wealth of experience in livestock breeding, seed production, cultivation of grain and vegetable crops and also in training of agricultural personnel. “We are ready to offer high-yield fodder and premixes, high-quality veterinary drugs. We can also provide equipment for dairy farms, grain, vegetable and potato storage facilities,” the deputy prime minister said. Viktor Karankevich suggested elaborating on possible supplies and cooperation in this avenue.
The Belarusian side also manufactures water treatment and water disposal equipment. Viktor Karankevich noted that one of the domestic enterprises has competencies in this field and successfully operates in Krasnodar Territory of Russia. It is ready to cooperate on design and drilling of water intake wells, installation and commissioning work in of water and wastewater treatment plants. In addition, according to him, some enterprises are interested in supplying modern water deferrization stations.
“We also have a huge untapped potential for cooperation in humanitarian affairs. After all, science, education, culture and sport leader to open dialogue and spiritual enrichment. The Belarusian side is also ready to consider promptly any proposals that will strengthen our bilateral cooperation,” Viktor Karankevich added.
