Belarusian car maker BELGEE to commission new stamping workshop in 2027

BORISOV DISTRICT, 8 April (BelTA) – A stamping workshop will be built at SZAO BELGEE in 2027, BelTA learned from the company’s Chief Process Engineer Sergei Tradchik on 8 April as Prime Minister of Belarus Aleksandr Turchin visited the enterprise.

“When the plant was being built, we had initially planned two phases. The first phase was welding, painting, and assembly. The second phase was the introduction of stamping production. We are now working on this. By the end of 2027, we are to implement the second phase of the plant,” said Sergei Tradchik.

The project to build the stamping workshop is to be implemented within 21 months.

The chief process engineer also informed about the modernization of existing workshops. “Last year we carried out modernization in the welding workshop and added five robots. In the painting workshop we also automated processes and added 33 robots. The advantage of robotic systems is that they perform all operations with great precision. The repeatability of processes is virtually perfect, as the human factor does not interfere,” he outlined.
Director of SZAO BELGEE Gennady Svidersky added that the plant is operating at full capacity, 12 hours a day without days off. “Therefore, one of the tasks assigned to us by the government is to expand capacity and increase manufacturing localization. The plant was designed to make 60,000 vehicles in a two-shift operation. We have set ourselves the goal of making 120,000. Last year we increased the painting capacity to 120,000 and increased welding speed. Now the construction of a stamping workshop has been planned,” he said.
The director of the enterprise also explained the importance of the new workshop. “If we reduce transportation costs and start manufacturing parts mechanically on our own, the full technological cycle will allow us to save on logistics and production will become more efficient. On the whole, classic passenger car production should start with a sheet of metal and end with a finished vehicle. We have already implemented welding, painting, and assembly processes. A stamping workshop will allow us to significantly reduce logistics costs. Belarus does not yet have modern, high-volume, robotic, large-scale stamping. Therefore, this project is important for the country as a whole,” Gennady Svidersky concluded.
