Belarus harvests first million tonnes of grain

“As of 27 July more than 900,000 tonnes of grain was threshed. Today we reached 1 million tonnes. By the end of the working day this figure will be even higher. The daily threshhold now exceeds 100,000 tonnes,” said Nikolai Leshik, head of the crop production department of the Agriculture and Food Ministry.

As of early 28 July, grain and leguminous crops (excluding maize, buckwheat and millet) were harvested from 11.5% of the planned area. It is expected that by the end of the day this figure will be about 13-13.5%. The average yield is more than 39 centners per hectare, which is significantly higher than on the same date in 2021.

Currently winter barley makes up some one third of the harvest – about 300,000 tonnes.

The harvesting of this crop is nearly over. The yield is more than 51 centners per hectare.
