‘War Crime’: Expert on strikes on pharmaceutical plant in Iran

MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – The only way Iran can respond to the United States is asymmetrically, Russian political scientist and orientalist Karine Gevorgyan said in the latest episode of V Teme [On Point] project.
Discussing the development of the conflict in Iran, Karine Gevorgyan noted: “Contrary to the ideologues of Orientalism in the West, Iran is acting smart. Being a very educated nation, they have watched everything very closely, including modern warfare. They learned the lessons of the Karabakh War, when drones were first used en masse. And while Russia didn’t particularly advance this component of its military-industrial complex, the Iranians immediately got down to business and very carefully developed their drone aviation and fleet. They paid close attention to this.”

“They realized that they could only respond asymmetrically to a monster and giant like the United States,” the expert said. “And they did this quite effectively, despite the fact that, of course, the country took a lot of hits. The Iranian people will not forget the strikes on the school in Minab that killed the schoolgirls and the strikes on the stadium that also killed boys, and so on.”

The political scientist noted that Europe did not support America and Israel in the campaign against Iran: “But the countries of the Arabian Peninsula, on whose territory American bases are located, undoubtedly supported it indirectly, because the strikes came from those bases. The Iranians struck rather accurately and effectively against bases on the Arabian Peninsula, and, interestingly, they destroyed a secret cloud-seeding center. Now, for the first time in 15 years (and there is a drought there every year), lakes and rivers are overflowing, and rains are falling. They say: ‘Every cloud has a silver lining.’ Heavy rains are falling over Iraq and Iran, reservoirs are filling up, which is very important for Iranian agriculture.”

“Interestingly, the coalition struck civilian infrastructure and bombed pharmaceutical plants, which is why Russia, China, and, as I know, Belarus are preparing humanitarian aid. A significant part of that aid consists of medicines and insulin. Let’s admit that bombing a pharmaceutical plant is a war crime. But nevertheless, they did it to create a serious shortage [of medicines]. Iran has an efficient and well-developed healthcare system. It’s no coincidence that, despite all the sanctions, Iranian doctors, especially cardiologists and oncologists, continued to work at American universities while remaining citizens of Iran,” said Karine Gevorgyan.
