Belarus' central bank: Single money emission center with Russia not up for discussion

MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – The establishment of a single money emission center with Russia is not on the agenda, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank of Belarus Sergei Kalechits told reporters on 20 December, BelTA has learned.

“This matter has not been recently discussed, is not under discussion now and I think it will not be discussed in the near future with financial regulators of the Russian Federation and the Eurasian Economic Union. Nobody has raised or is raising this question,” Sergei Kalechits said.

In his words, this is because all the financial regulators have finally agreed that transition to the single currency with the establishment of the single money emission center is the final stage of integration. “Therefore, it is absolutely premature to talk about it,” Sergei Kalechits noted.
