Olympics 2024: Belarus’ Zalaty moves to men’s single sculls quarterfinal

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) – Belarusian rower Yauheni Zalaty made it into the men’s single sculls quarterfinal at the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, BelTA has learned.

The event featured 33 athletes. Yauheni Zalaty competed in the fourth preliminary heat together with athletes from Brazil, Bermuda, the USA and Monaco. The top three athletes moved into the quarterfinal. The Belarusian won the heat, clocking 6:51. Second was Jacob Plihal of the USA, third -    Lucas Verthein Ferreira of Brazil, both finishing 3.5 seconds back. 
 
The men’s quarterfinal at the Vaires-sur-Marne Nautical Stadium is due to take place on 30 July. The quarterfinal will feature 24 athletes.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will be running through 11 August. Belarus’ delegation in the capital of France features 17 athletes competing in ten sports.
