MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) - Belarus is a major food producer and exporter, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Sergei Rachkov told reporters, commenting on the sociological surveys regarding Belarusians’ confidence in their future and in the further economic development of Belarus, BelTA has learned.
"At a time of the unfair and illegal policy of sanctions, we are going our own way. We are fulfilling the plans outlined by the president, the government, and the Belarusian People's Congress. A lot has been done over the thirty years of the presidency in our country and especially over the past 2 to 3 years in the development of social infrastructure, industry and agriculture, family welfare policies," Sergei Rachkov said.
Belarus is self-sufficient in food. "We are a major food producer and exporter. Today the issue of food security is relevant for almost all countries of the world. During my business trip to the United States of America last year, I noticed that there were empty shelves there. They have experienced a significant increase in food prices, so this topic is very relevant today. The Republic of Belarus provides for itself and helps other countries. First of all, we help friendly countries. We are developing relations with geographically distant countries that also need food and fertilizers that we produce. Therefore, there is nothing surprising in the fact that Belarusians look to the future with confidence," the MP stressed.
