ERYOZA DISTRICT, 14 June (BelTA) - Drones are an important element on the battlefield, but armies also need artillery, tanks and combat vehicles, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin told the media on 13 June, BelTA learned.
Viktor Khrenin noted that the drone troops have been created as an independent branch of special forces of the Armed Forces. “We have already built a clear vertical, starting from the control bodies, units and the training system,” the minister said.
A number of samples of unmanned aerial complexes in service with the Belarusian army were examined by Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko as he visited the center for the preparation and use of unmanned aerial complexes in Beryoza District, Brest Oblast on 13 June.
“The most important task set by the head of state is to review all estimates based on the principle of reasonable sufficiency: what we need in terms of unmanned aircraft systems and anti-drone means and in what quantities. We understand that this is one of crucial elements on the battlefield. But so is artillery, tanks and combat vehicles. Of course, everything on the battlefield depends on a soldier. Means of protecting our servicemen are important as well. We have good prospects here as well,” Viktor Khrenin said.
