Healthcare Ministry: Belarus exports nearly 30% of its pharmaceutical output 

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) – About 30% of Belarusian pharmaceutical output is bound for export, BelTA learned from the Healthcare Ministry.

In 2025, enterprises of all forms of ownership supplied pharmaceutical products to 30 countries. In 2024, the number of export destinations as 26.

In 2025, Belarus’ pharmaceutical export amounted to $222.1 million, up by 7.7% year-on-year. The pharmaceutical organizations of the Belpharmprom holding company accounted for 66.7% of the total export in 2025.  

Belarusian pharmaceutical enterprises produce more than 1,600 drug names across various pharmacotherapeutic groups in their product portfolio. More than 700 of them are manufactured by the pharmaceutical organizations of the Belpharmprom holding company.

The share of domestically produced pharmaceutical drugs on the home market in monetary terms for 2025 accounted for 50.1%. This is one of the highest indicators compared to the domestic markets of neighboring countries, the Healthcare Ministry noted. At the same time, in terms of consumption volume in conventional packages, the share of Belarusian medicinal drugs in the pharmacy network is about 65%, and in the hospital sector - more than 80%, which is due to the significant (on average threefold) difference in prices between imported and domestically produced drugs.

In 2025, domestic manufacturers registered 55 new domestically produced medicines on the domestic market for the first time, including 14 by organizations of the Belpharmprom holding company and 5 by organizations of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus.

The Belpharmprom holding company set the selling prices at an accessible level, sometimes mere kopecks compared to imported analogues. About 61% of the products manufactured by Belpharmprom are sold at a price not exceeding $2 (34% -  not exceeding $1). Prices for medicinal products manufactured by Belpharmprom are significantly lower than the price levels of privately owned manufacturers and imported analogues.
