MINSK, 17 April (BelTA) - Belarus and China discussed cooperation during a meeting between Chairman of the State Control Committee of Belarus (SCC) Vasily Gerasimov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Zhang Wenchuan, the SCC told BelTA.

The talks focused on collaboration between oversight agencies. Vasily Gerasimov noted the high level of cooperation between the SCC and the National Audit Office of China and the National Supervisory Commission of the People's Republic of China.

One of the topics discussed was anti-corruption efforts. Both countries’ oversight agencies pay significant attention to this area.
Issues of social and economic development were also discussed. At the end of 2025, bilateral trade reached a record $9.9 billion. There is significant potential for further growth in this area.

Attracting direct Chinese investment was another key topic. Belarus is keen to bring more Chinese business into its economy, and favorable conditions are already in place. The head of state pays significant attention to this matter. The SCC, in turn, is ready to actively facilitate the implementation of joint initiatives.

Education is also of common interest. The parties examined the possibility of training specialists, especially for oversight agencies, through programs offered by Nanjing Audit University.

Another important topic is regional cooperation. The first Belarus-China forum of regions is scheduled to take place in June. Prospects for partnership in this area were also discussed.

Vasily Gerasimov and Zhang Wenchuan noted the high level of all-weather strategic partnership between Belarus and China, which is actively developing in all areas.

Zhang Wenchuan also toured the museum exhibition of the State Control Committee.
