MOSCOW, 16 December (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Russian agreement on the mutual recognition of visas will come into force in mid-January 2025. Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk made the statement during the conference “Union State: Integration, development, trust” held in Moscow and dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing of the Union State Foundation Treaty, BelTA has learned.
Alexei Overchuk said: “A very important aspect of our interaction is the realization of the agreement on the mutual recognition of visas. Just like we planned within the framework of the high-level group [of the Council of Ministers of the Union State of Belarus and Russia], by 8 December our competent government agencies had finished testing the secure data channel and last week the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the Russian side had completed all the interstate procedures. We also talked to the Belarusian side last week. As far as I understand, Belarus has also completed similar procedures. Now the agreement is supposed to come into force within 30 days after the relevant notes are exchanged. Which means in mid-January 2025.”
“It is very important because the agreement allows third-country citizens to cross our land border. It primarily affects transportation by road, including freight transportation,” the Russian vice premier noted.
