MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – I watched the inauguration of US President Donald Trump live and I really did not like one moment, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with the labor collectives of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) and other enterprises of the MAZ holding company on 21 January, BelTA has learned.
“I listened to his speech live. To be honest, I was less than thrilled about Joe Biden, the former president. But somehow he looked more decent than Trump himself. He [Joe Biden] was sitting there, with his shoulders slouched. Whatever happened is in the past. You [Donald Trump] had already said it all. Why did you devote half a speech to deride this poor old man?Did you see the poor Biden sitting there with his hands down, next to Kamala Harris. The poor woman was thrown into the race against Trump. She fought and held strong. Give credit where it is due. They should not be destroyed like this,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
“This is my opinion and my feelings, based on my experience. That was why I took this whole inauguration and these statements very negatively.”
“I was overwhelmed by these emotions. I stopped listening when he started berating Biden, Harris and others. You can't do that. You can't insult those who held the office before you. If they did badly, correct those mistakes. People will see it and will appreciate you. This is the essence of our presidential work,” the Belarusian leader added.
