Foreign ministers of Belarus, Oman discuss situation in Middle East 

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) - On the instructions of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov discussed the situation in the Middle East with Omani Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Bin Hamid Bin Hamood Al Busaidi, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The Belarusian side expressed support for Oman's efforts to establish lasting peace in the region and for all the mediation steps it is undertaking. The Omani foreign minister, in turn, informed his Belarusian counterpart  about the development of the situation in the conflict zone. The parties emphasized that there is no alternative to a diplomatic settlement of the situation," the press service said.

It was with great concern that the patties noted the continued loss of civilian lives and the destruction of civilian infrastructure. The ministers spoke in favor of the swiftest cessation of all violent actions.

“All involved parties must return to resolving differences through peaceful means in order to restore stability and security in the region. The Belarusian side also confirmed its commitment to exerting all necessary efforts that would contribute to the de-escalation of the conflict. Furthermore, the parties reaffirmed the friendly nature of relations between the peoples of Belarus and Oman, a relationship built on the strong foundation of mutual respect and support exemplified by the two countries' leaders,” the ministry stressed.
