Belarus, Vietnam’s Province of Long An intend to establish direct business ties 

 MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) - Consul General of Belarus in Ho Chi Minh City Ruslan Varankou met with Secretary of the Long An Province Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Chairman of the Provincial People’s, Council Nguyen Van Duoc, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic missions in Ho Chi Minh City.

The consul general continues meeting with the leadership of the southern provinces of Vietnam which were recently included in the consular district of the Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.

During the meeting, Ruslan Varankou and Nguyen Van Duoc acknowledged the longstanding friendly relations between Belarus and Vietnam. They emphasized that this makes the important foundation for future bilateral ties.

The parties identified the key areas of cooperation, including trade, economy, investment, and humanitarian efforts.

Both sides also highlighted the need to enhance mutual awareness of their potential and foster direct interaction between the business communities of Belarus and Long An Province.

Long An Province is situated in the south of Vietnam and is the country’s leading region within the Mekong Delta. It is part of the Southern Key Economic Development Zone and serves as the southwestern gateway to the Ho Chi Minh City agglomeration.

The province has a population of approximately 1.8 million, with its capital city, Tan An – of around 215,000. In 2023, the province's GRP reached $6.7 billion. The industrial and construction sectors contribute to over half of the province’s economy, while the services sector, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries account for the rest.
