MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) - Sergei Aleinik, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic [the upper house of Belarusian Parliament], held a number of bilateral meetings with foreign colleagues on the sidelines of the first Inter-Parliamentary Speakers' Conference (ISC) “Peace, Security and Development” in Islamabad, BelTA has learned.
On 12 November, Sergei Aleinik met with Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar. The parties reviewed the status of bilateral agreements reached during the visit of the Belarusian president to Pakistan in November 2024 and during the reciprocal visit of the prime minister of Pakistan to Belarus in April 2025. The focus was on trade and economy, particularly bilateral projects in the field of industrial cooperation and the organization of the next meeting of the joint Belarusian-Pakistani commission on trade and economic cooperation.
During the meeting with Sergei Aleinik, the head of the Algerian delegation, member of the Council of the Nation Saad Arous emphasized the importance that the Algerian side attaches to the upcoming visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Algeria, which will contribute to the expansion and strengthening of the entire spectrum of bilateral relations.

Inter-parliamentary cooperation was in focus of the meeting between Sergei Aleinik and Vice President of the Senate of Malaysia Nur Jazlan bin Mohamed. The Belarusian MP emphasized the readiness of the Belarusian side to develop interstate dialogue, strengthen and expand cooperation in all areas. Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to exchange visits by parliamentary delegations and to establish friendship groups in the Belarusian and Malaysian parliaments. The first step towards intensifying contacts will be the holding of a video conference to discuss in detail specific steps for developing cooperation.
Sergei Aleinik also met with First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Javad oglu Ahmadov to discuss the bilateral agenda, focusing on the progress in implementing agreements in trade, economy and social and humanitarian affairs and also matters of inter-parliamentary interaction, including in multilateral organizations.
The meeting between the Belarusian MP and Suos Yara, Chairman of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Information of the National Assembly of Cambodia, was dedicated to expanding bilateral inter-parliamentary and trade-economic cooperation.
Sergei Aleinik and Edin Đerlek, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Serbia, discussed bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation and interaction on the international stage.
Cooperation in the investment and trade-economic areas and also bilateral contacts through parliamentary channels were addressed with Dr. Tariq Humaid Al Tayer, First Deputy Speaker of the Federal National Council of the UAE.

Andrew Asiamah Amoako emphasized that Belarus possesses unique expertise in mechanical engineering and agricultural mechanization, which is of great interest to Ghana as his country is actively developing its agricultural sector. The parties agreed to maintain bilateral contacts between the parliaments of the two countries and to continue interaction within the framework of multilateral forums.
