University graduates celebrate outside Palace of Sports in Minsk

MINSK, 29 June (BelTA) – Thousands of this year’s graduates of higher education institutions gathered outside the Palace of Sports in Minsk in the evening on 28 June for a celebration, BelTA has learned.

Belarusian Education Minister Andrei Ivanets congratulated the graduates on finishing their studies. “Today is a very worrying and yet very joyful day for you. Years of studies are behind you. You have learned everything. You have an education certificate. The adult life already awaits you. I am convinced that the high level and quality of our education will secure your professional development. I’d like to wish you not to rest on your accomplishments. Go forward and grow as a person. And you will definitely succeed because you have everything to make this success happen,” the official said.

He remarked that young Belarusians make up the most active part of the society and have their own worldview and attitudes. “The desire to make our country and the world as a whole better is the most important thing that unites you. You are citizens of sovereign and independent Belarus. And all of us together with you under the leadership of President Aleksandr Lukashenko build an independent and prosperous country. We are proud of you and have faith in you. This year is special. It is the year of the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from the Nazi invaders. You are descendants of the generation of winners. Be proud of this title. Honor history and preserve our country. I am convinced that the professors, who were with you all these years, now look at you with pride. All these years they passed on their knowledge and shaped you as real professionals and genuine patriots. I am also convinced that today your parents also have the warmest feelings for you. They wish you only a good road ahead. Dear graduates! Honor the past! Look into the future with confidence! And god speed!” Andrei Ivanets wished.

About 3,000 graduates of higher education institutions from all the regions of the country took part in the outdoor festivities. Minsk was represented by about 2,000 best of the best while about 1,000 graduates came from the regions.
