The Belarusian folk holiday Bagach that marks the end of harvest and the first lighting of the hearth was celebrated at the Yanka Kupala House Museum in Vyazynka on 25 September.
The hearth is symbolized by a wax candle and rye that are believed to bring wealth and happiness. The wax candle was given to a young couple who got married this year, or to the most successful family in the village. The grain was first to be planted during the spring sowing. The festival was organized by the Yanka Kupala House Museum and the Student Ethnographic Society.
