MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – Based in Stolbtsy, Minsk Oblast, the branch of the Belarusian engine manufacturing company MMZ is busy increasing foundry production, the MMZ press service told BelTA.
Designed to make high-precision, high-strength cast iron products, the MMZ branch steadily raises its output. MMZ no longer needs to buy expensive products elsewhere and can even dedicate some of the output capacity to third-party orders.
In 2020 the rotary casting section made over 180,000 engine block sleeves weighing nearly 1,700 tonnes. The section can make 8,000 tonnes of cast products per annum.
MMZ constantly works to increase the section's workload to full capacity and is in negotiations with foreign companies to take their orders. The foundry fully satisfies demands of the head enterprise, MMZ stressed.
The small-series XTC casting section was officially inaugurated in early 2020. The division made nearly 140 tonnes of gray cast iron products till the end of the year. The section is designed to make 10,000 tonnes of liquid iron per annum.
The new foundry has already mastered the production of 38 products such as flywheel housings, flywheels, pulleys, rocker arms, manifolds, blowers. The latest projects include mastering the production of goods for MMZ's latest products and small-capacity engines: the engine block head for MMZ-3LD engines and engine blocks for MMZ-4DTI engines.
The manufacturing division pays attention not only to quantity. For the sake of raising the quality of the surface of engine block heads the division bought a shot blasting chamber for cleaning internal ducts.
The output of the Stolbtsy-based foundry will continue rising this year. In March 2021 the rotary casting section made 14 kinds of cast iron products with the total weight of over 167 tonnes while the small-series XTC casting section made over 45 tonnes of products.
