MINSK, 10 August (BelTA) – Four million tonnes of grain have been threshed in Belarus, BelTA learned from the Agriculture and Food Ministry.
“By the afternoon of 10 August, Belarusian agricultural workers threshed four million tonnes of grain,” the ministry informed.
According to the information released in the morning, Belarus threshed 3,836,600 tonnes of grain, with the average yield at 37.7 centners per hectare. However, by the afternoon this figure went up.
The Agriculture and Food Ministry noted that the grain yield this year is much higher that last year's: “On the same day last year the grain yield was 32 centners per hectare, which is 5 centners per hectare lower than this year. This allows us to expect a better yield this year,” the ministry informed.
Weather conditions will be quite favorable for grain harvesting in the coming days. The harvest campaign is expected to be complete in Belarus by and large around 20-25 August.
