MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – It is necessary to transform Belarus from a country of needs to a country of opportunities, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said during a joint sitting of the House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic in Minsk on 22 October, BelTA has learned.
“The current task of the government is to lay a foundation for high-quality growth in the next five-year period. The most important part of this work is developing mechanisms and principles to implement these tasks and goals,” Nikolai Snopkov noted.
The first deputy prime minister named the areas of work the government will focus on. “The first one is technological leadership and industry specialization. The second one seeks accelerated digital transformation. The third one deals with demographic issues and human resources. The fourth one has to do with regional development and infrastructure. We are currently working on this as we are drafting programs,” he informed.
“The general idea behind these efforts is to move from a country of needs to a country of opportunities, where every resident can and should create enabling conditions for uncovering and fulfilling their potential. These and many other areas formed the core of the 2040 National Sustainable Development Strategy draft that prioritizes efforts to improve the quality of life,” Nikolai Snopkov noted.
