MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) – Belarus is aiming to expand food supplies to Sudan, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

As part of the official visit of the Sudanese delegation to Belarus, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Aleksandr Yakovchits and the guests visited the Belarusian National Biotechnology Corporation (BNBC). The Sudanese government delegation is led by Minister of Energy and Petroleum Elmutasim Ibrahim Ahmed Ali.

During the visit, the parties reviewed the enterprise’s production capabilities and held talks on developing bilateral cooperation in agricultural industry within the framework of the fifth meeting of the joint Belarusian-Sudanese cooperation commission.

Aleksandr Yakovchits provided an update on the current state of trade and economic cooperation and the prospects for its expansion. Despite the currently modest agricultural trade, Belarus has significant export potential and is eager to increase supplies to the Sudanese market.

“Taking into account the import capacity of your market, we are interested in organizing supplies of high-quality food products: skimmed and whole milk powder, baby food, and poultry. For the detailed processing of contracts, it is essential to coordinate access conditions, customs duties, and quota opportunities,” the deputy minister noted.

Given the well-developed animal husbandry in Sudan, the Belarusian side is also ready to offer feed for cattle and poultry, wheat gluten for baking, veterinary medicine, and vaccines.

Cooperation in agricultural education has been identified as a promising area. Personnel training for the industry is provided by four higher education institutions under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, covering the full range of in-demand specialties.

Belarus reaffirmed its openness to comprehensive partnership with Sudan in various agricultural areas.
