Plans to build waiting areas with electronic queues at three more Belarus-EU border crossings

BREST, 7 May (BelTA) – There are plans to build waiting areas with electronic queue systems in front of three more Belarusian checkpoints at the border with the European Union, BelTA learned from Chairman of the State Customs Committee Vladimir Orlovsky on 7 May.

Vladimir Orlovsky noted that the Brest and Kozlovichi checkpoints have been modernized and waiting areas have been opened in front of them. Comprehensive work on the development of customs border infrastructure in Brest Oblast is nearing completion.

The creation of electronic queue zones will continue in other directions. “The next facility is the Berestovitsa checkpoint in the area of operation of the Grodno Regional Customs at the border with Poland. We will start the construction of an electronic queue zone over there in the near future. We plan to build it this year and commission it by the end of 2026. The next planned checkpoint is Grigorovshchina at the Latvian border. We will start building the zone somewhere in summer and finish it next year,” the chairman of the State Customs Committee said.

Changes will also affect the infrastructure in front of the Kamenny Log checkpoint at the Lithuanian border. “We have a zone over there as part of our logistics hub, but it is periodically insufficient if neighboring inspection agencies create a queue in front of the border crossing. Therefore, we will build a separate zone specifically for the electronic queue. We will begin construction next year,” Vladimir Orlovsky announced.

Such zones offer the electronic registration of vehicles and create comfortable conditions for drivers and passengers waiting to cross the border.
