MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko suggested planting a good orchard outside Minsk at a conference with the leadership of the Council of Ministers, BelTA has learned.
During the conference the president drew attention to the reclaimed lands belonging to Agrokombinat Dzerzhinskiy and suggested how they could be used. “It is beautiful. I looked at it today and yesterday. I am just thinking about what we should cultivate on these lands. I know what we need near Minsk. I would plant an orchard. A good orchard. We know how to do it,” he proposed.
“In Molodechno this young man [the head of the Spartan-Agro farming enterprise] knows how to do it. He would help him if needed,” the head of state added.
The president also clarified that the necessary water resources for planting an orchard are available in this area. “A river flows there. You can take as much water as you want. And for an orchard, for irrigation, you need water.”
“I would plant an orchard over there. And we would fully supply Minsk with apples,” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
