MOGILEV, 5 May (BelTA) - The grand opening of the exhibition of young artists from Belarus and Russia titled “Heirs of the Great Victory” will take place at the Mogilev Oblast Glory Museum at 12:00 on 5 May, BelTA learned from the Mogilev Oblast Museum of Local Lore named after E.R. Romanov.
The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 85th anniversary of the start of the Great Patriotic War and the heroic defense of Mogilev. Organized as part of the international project World Without Borders, the exhibition is a unique phenomenon for the space of Belarus, Russia, and the CIS in general. Children and young people have been creating paintings and graphic works on military themes for more than 20 years.
The project’s collection is constantly expanded with new works by young patriots of the Union State. Today, the total number of works reflecting the history of 1941–1945 stands at about 2,000. The author and director of the project since 2003 is Igor Motin, director of the Bobruisk art studio Raduga.
The official closing is scheduled for 1 June, International Children’s Day. The day will include an awards ceremony for active participants, a tour of the museum and the Buinichi Field memorial complex, and an open-air painting session featuring the young artists.
The events will be attended by delegations from Bobruisk, Mogilev, and Minsk: the young artists, their parents, military artists from the Defense Ministry, UNESCO staff, veterans of the Armed Forces, representatives of cultural and educational institutions, as well as media representatives.
The exhibition will be open at 208 Chelyuskintsev Street, Mogilev.
