MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian car maker BELGEE hit a historic milestone in April 2026, selling a record number of new energy vehicles, the company told BelTA.
In one month, Belarusians purchased over 1,600 electric vehicles (EV) and hybrids, with the Geely EX2 emerging as the top seller. This compact hatchback accounted for nearly half of all EV and hybrid sales for the BELGEE plant. A total of over 740 Geely EX2 units were purchased in Belarus in April 2026 – more than in any previous month. Sales increased 1.5 times compared to March 2026, which had also been a successful month for the model.
Total sales for the company in April exceeded 3,900 units, including both Geely and BELGEE brands. Alongside the Geely EX2, two other models set new records: over 390 Geely EX5 electric vehicles and more than 480 BELGEE X80 PHEV hybrid crossover SUVs were sold in Belarus.
“The record-breaking demand in April highlights the growing consumer interest in modern new energy vehicles, including both battery-electric and hybrid models. These vehicles combine advanced technology, practicality, and affordability. There is little doubt that this trend will only continue to gain momentum,” the company noted.
Rising demand is driven by the increased affordability of electric vehicles, including a price adjustment for the BELGEE X80 PHEV. Financial programs also played a key role: the down payment for the BELGEE X80 PHEV was reduced from 40% to 25% in April, while Geely EVs became eligible for a 0.95% interest rate during a one-year grace period.
