Belarus, Russia to launch pilot project on integrating goods marking systems

MOSCOW, 8 May (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia will conduct a pilot project on integrating goods marking systems, BelTA learned from the press service of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) following a meeting between Aleksandr Subbotin, EEC Minister in charge of Technical Regulation, and Yelena Morgunova, Chairperson of the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus.

“Particular attention was paid to harmonizing approaches for conducting a pilot project on integrating the goods marking system using identification means with the unified register of issued certificates of conformity and registered declarations of conformity between the State Committee for Standardization of Belarus and the sole operator of Russia’s national digital goods marking and traceability system - the Center for the Development of Advanced Technologies,” the EEC said.

The parties discussed the current system of regulating the production and circulation of food products within the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, including problematic issues that require coordinated decisions by EAEU member states regarding the entry into force of the technical regulation “On the Safety of Alcoholic Products”.

“To achieve consensus among EAEU countries, unresolved issues were examined concerning the draft amendments to the technical regulation On Food Safety regarding the establishment of forms, schemes, and procedures for conformity assessment based on model schemes approved by the EEC Council in 2018,” the press service said.

Aleksandr Subbotin also toured the facilities and examined the activities of two organizations under the State Committee for Standardization - the Belarusian State Institute of Metrology and the Belarusian State Institute of Standardization and Certification. “The parties noted the importance of such meetings for developing approaches to improving EAEU law in technical regulation, taking into account the national interests of member states and the goals of the union,” the EEC added.
