MOSCOW, 8 May (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko took part in a working dinner together with the leaders of Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan at the Kremlin on the evening of 8 May, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko will take part in Victory Day celebrations on 9 May during his working visit to Russia. Before, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Kremlin.

During the meeting, Aleksandr Lukashenko called Victory a great common asset. “Back in the day our ancestors saved not only Europe but the whole world from the brown plague. It is clear what would have happened to us if our predecessors had lost this war. This is our great legacy. We proceed from that. It is the legacy of Russians, Belarusians, and all the republics of the Soviet Union. Everyone fought (even if the war did not reach everyone) and died by the tens, hundreds, and thousands,” he said.

The heads of state also discussed issues of Belarusian-Russian cooperation.

Later, the leaders gathered for a working dinner at the Kremlin. Shortly afterwards, the leaders of Belarus and Russia were joined by their colleagues from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who also arrived in Moscow to take part in the Victory Day celebrations.
