Belaus to ship 700 units of equipment to Nicaragua

MINSK, 18 July (BelTA) – More than 700 units of Belarusian equipment will be delivered to Nicaragua, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said as he met with Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, Nicaragua's Presidential Adviser on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, BelTA has learned.

“First of all, I am very glad to convey to the fraternal people and the leadership of Nicaragua the warmest greetings of the Belarusian president on the 45th anniversary of the triumph of the Sandinista Revolution. This is certainly the most important day in the history of Nicaragua, and it is a great honor for the Belarusian delegation to be here with Nicaraguan friends during these celebrations," Roman Golovchenko said.

“It is my pleasure to convey to you greetings from President of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega and Vice-President Rosario Murillo. We would like to thank you and your President Aleksandr Lukashenko for making this visit happen during the celebration of an outstanding event in the history of Nicaragua,” Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, Nicaragua's Presidential Adviser on Investment, Trade and International Cooperation, responded.

"We share your values and aspirations to make life better for ordinary people and build a fair society. We are ready to be a reliable partner for Nicaragua in addressing challenges facing the country and to make a contribution to the development and prosperity of Nicaragua. All these years since the USSR collapsed and Belarus gained independence, our political relations with Nicaragua have been defined by a high level of mutual understanding and trust. We, like Nicaragua, reject diktat and push back against attempts to foist an ideology we don’t believe in. In our international relations, we are committed to the principles of sovereign equality and unconditional mutual respect,” said Roman Golovchenko.

For a long time, the two countries have been looking for ways to translate their trade and economic plans into reality. “These days, thanks to the support of the Nicaraguan leadership, we are seeing the first meaningful results. The first batch of Belarusian trucks will be delivered to Nicaragua one of these days. Today’s signing of agreements and banking contracts will also mark the beginning of a large project to supply more than 700 units of Belarusian-made equipment to brotherly Nicaragua,” the prime minister noted.

“Of course, we will go further than that. I think we will very carefully consider your proposals to launch production of Belarusian equipment in Nicaragua with the possibility of exporting it to other countries of the region, taking into account your good relations with the majority of Latin American countries,” the Belarusian head of government remarked.

Earlier, Roman Golovchenko paid an official visit to Venezuela and Cuba. The work to promote cooperation with the far arc countries continues in Nicaragua. According to the Belarusian head of government, the main goal is to lay a solid foundation for cooperation with these countries.
