MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) - In 2024, trade in food and agricultural raw materials between Belarus and Pakistan grew by 36.5% year on year, with Belarusian food exports surging by 39.5%, the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry told BelTA.

The supply of dry baby food accounts for the largest share (over 60%) of Belarusian food exports to Pakistan. Last year, Belarusian leading enterprises ensured a threefold growth in exports of milk and dairy products to Pakistan.

The ministry noted that in November last year, the Belarusian Center for Standardization and Certification BelHalal and the National Accreditation Council of Pakistan signed a memorandum of understanding to ensure the quality of halal products. This document officially launched the accreditation process of BelHalal as a body responsible for halal quality certification.

"Belarus’ agro-industrial complex intends to further cooperation with Pakistani business communities. Belarus plans to increase exports of baby food and expand the volume and range of exported goods: skimmed milk powder, dry dairy whey, condensed milk, sugar, rapeseed oil, flour, beef, and poultry meat," the ministry stated. "We are discussing in detail the supplies of Belarusian veterinary drugs to Pakistan. We are also cooperating with the Pakistani side to share experience in setting up a testing and certification center for agricultural machinery."
