MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – Belarus is introducing licensing for the import of accumulators. Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin has signed the relevant resolution of the Council of Ministers, the government’s press service told BelTA.
The document provides for the unilateral introduction of a temporary non-tariff regulation measure restricting the import of accumulator batteries into Belarus for a period of six months by having to get licenses for their import.
The following types of goods need accumulator import licenses: electric lead batteries that use liquid electrolyte, are used for starting piston engines, weigh more than 5kg, and are used for industrial assembly; other electric lead batteries operating with liquid electrolyte and weighing more than 5kg.
The introduction of licensing for battery import will not apply to goods originating from Eurasian Economic Union member states, provided that their origin is confirmed by a form ST-1 certificate of origin of goods or another form of the certificate of origin of goods, or if they are included in the Eurasian registry of industrial goods of EAEU member states.
The introduction of this non-tariff regulation measure will not lead to higher prices for the end consumer and has been adopted to support domestic producers, the government’s press service noted.
