MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – Belarus' world number 50 Ilya Ivashka has advanced to the Geneva Open quarterfinal, BelTA has learned.
In the round of Last 16 the Belarusian battled through world number 15 Denis Shapovalov of Canada, 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-3, in two hours and 15 minutes. Ilya Ivashka will next face Portugal's world number 79 Joao Sousa. In the opener the Belarusian defeated world number 49 Marcos Giron of the United States, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.
The tournament in Geneva will be over on 21 May.
