MINSK, 7 May (BelTA) - The Belarusian BRSM Youth Union suggested organizing a youth forum dedicated to patriotic education, Chairman of Belarusian BRSM Youth Union, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Pavel Alekso told BelTA.

A meeting of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union associations took place at the House of Youth in Minsk on 7 May. The event brought together representatives of more than 20 organizations. At the meeting, the BRSM proposed holding a youth forum on patriotic education and called for consolidating the efforts of all public organizations. According to Pavel Alekso, the event is planned for Belarus’ Independence Day on 3 July.

The meeting also reviewed the results of the Belarusian Committee of Youth Organizations, including the activities of the youth sociological research laboratory during the election campaign and post-election surveys. Another topic was the results of joint events, including an international karate championship and qualifying rounds of the international KVN youth comedy show league.

The meeting concluded with a joint address asking Belarusian youth to remember their ancestors who died fighting for the Motherland and to defend their memory if necessary. “Our duty is to pass on to future generations the truth about the price of freedom and independence. 9 May will forever remain in our memory as a symbol of unyielding will, resilience and unwavering faith in a just cause. This is not only a day to remember the heroic past but also a day to reflect on our present and future. It is important that the lessons of that terrible war are learned and that we cherish the peace for which our fathers and grandfathers fought,” the address read.
