
MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – The implemented project to build the National Football Stadium in Minsk represents an example of political trust and profound friendship between the peoples of Belarus and China. Deputy Head of the General Administration of Sport of China, Vice President of the Chinese Olympic Committee Zhang Jiasheng made the statement during a solemn ceremony held to open the National Football Stadium in Minsk on 7 June, BelTA has learned.
Zhang Jiasheng described the accomplished project to build the stadium as a symbol of strong friendship and fruitful cooperation of Belarus and China. He underlined the huge role of the leaders of the two countries. Thanks to them Belarus-China relations have reached the highest level of all-weather all-round strategic partnership.
With that in mind Zhang Jiasheng mentioned a recent visit of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to China. “The leaders of our countries have reached important agreements on further intensification of Chinese-Belarusian relations. A new solid foundation for steady and long-term cooperation has been created,” the representative of the Chinese side said.
“The opening of the football stadium is not only a significant project of technical economic interaction but a vivid example of political trust and profound friendship between our nations,” Zhang Jiasheng stressed. “Thanks to the connecting power of sport, we have jointly inscribed a new common chapter into the history of China-Belarus friendship.”
He offered words of special gratitude to construction workers from both countries, who had taken part in the project’s implementation.
Zhang Jiasheng expressed confidence that the National Football Stadium will become a venue for inspiring young people and a new step in Belarus-China humanitarian cooperation. “May sport bring us closer. May our partnership lead to a common future,” he wished.
In a solemn setting Zhang Jiasheng handed over a symbolic key to the stadium to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. In turn, the head of state presented the key to Belarusian athletes, who expressed gratitude for being given a facility in Minsk that will allow football players to train, grow, and achieve high results.
