Belarusian wrestler Uladzislau Kazlou clinches European champion title

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Uladzislau Kazlou of Belarus claimed gold in the 97kg freestyle at the U23 European Wrestling Championships which are underway in Tirana, Albania, BelTA has learned.

On 8 March the Belarusian defeated Greece’s Nikolaos Karavanos 4-1. Uladzislau Kazlou beat Sergey Sargsyan of Armenia 12-0 in the quarterfinal, prevailed over Ukraine’s David Mchedlidze 2-0 in the semifinal and edged Bady Maadyr Samdan of Russia 2-1 in the final.

Artsiom Ihnatsiuk of Belarus reached the bronze-medal stage in the 92kg freestyle. The Belarusian will face Ukraine’s Denys Sahaliuk on 10 March. The women’s wrestling event will kick off on Monday. Greco-Roman wrestlers will start their campaign on 12 March.
