MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Belarus is implementing a project to modernize grain storage facilities in Zimbabwe, Yuri Nikolaichik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Zimbabwe, told the STV television channel, BelTA reports.

“The third phase of agricultural mechanization [in Zimbabwe with Belarusian assistance] is now underway. This is a flexible process, with the contractual agreements signed in 2023 being adapted to the evolving needs of the Zimbabwean side. Our harvesters and grain trucks, for example, have already been delivered and are operational. Furthermore, a contract to modernize grain storage facilities is in progress. This is a significant undertaking for the Republic of Zimbabwe, and we are working diligently to fulfill it in light of the country’s increasing demands,” noted Yuri Nikolaichik.

Zimbabwe is actively upgrading its energy sector, and the two countries are cooperating in this area as well. “Energy cooperation between Belarus and Zimbabwe is one of our newer areas of collaboration. At present, we are taking the first steps toward each other, studying Zimbabwe’s needs and the capabilities we can offer our Zimbabwean friends. The range of issues is indeed broad, from the supply of cable products and transformers to personnel training. Furthermore, the Zimbabwean side is considering solving its power generation challenges through the construction of a nuclear power plant. And here, too, our experience may prove valuable,” the ambassador said.
