MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Two hours of a candid conversation about life and situation in the world – that is how RT host and presenter of the Sanchez Effect program Rick Sanchez described his interview with Aleksandr Lukashenko as he talked to the Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA reports.
“I saw that he is a very sincere person; he is genuine and relatable. He doesn’t worry about whether anyone will like his answers or not. He speaks from his heart. I think that is very unusual, especially for a politician,” said Rick Sanchez. “I also felt a certain kinship with him. I grew up in Cuba, in poverty; my parents had no money. We came to the United States as migrants. And he shared his story with me. He also comes from a communist country, the USSR, and also grew up in poverty, but he managed to make his own way. He radiates a very pleasant energy as a person.”

The journalist asked Rick Sanchez whether the conversation with the Belarusian president was free and unfiltered, and he replied that there was no pre-approval of questions. “There were no pre-scripted questions before the interview, aside from my own preparation. I’m a journalist, and I think Lukashenko also had read about me because he knew my biography. Other than that, there was nothing in the interview that was agreed upon in advance, planned, or staged. Two adult men who became friends during the conversation. Two hours of open conversation about life and the global situation,” he added.
