MINSK, 19 March (BelTA) – New experience of training to protect the Motherland. The phrase underlines the particular significance of the comprehensive exercise involving troops of the Western Operational Command, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

As part of the comprehensive exercise the units have been deployed in staging areas and have started carrying out assigned missions. Belarusian Deputy Defense Minister, Major-General Aleksandr Naumenko observed actions of the troops.

“I’ve made sure that all the combat shakedown stages have been properly executed in a military exercise area today. Some aspects of the training of reserve officers and personnel need attention. At the same time missions were accomplished taking into account the experience of [Russia’s] special military operation [in Ukraine],” Aleksandr Naumenko noted.

In his words, work was done at a backup command post and command and observation posts of units and military bodies. A series of unexpected scenarios were played out to destroy drones, the enemy’s sabotage and reconnaissance forces and to move to firing positions in order to destroy the enemy.

“On the whole, I am satisfied with the results the personnel demonstrate during the first stage. But certainly, the supervisor of the exercise will provide an overall evaluation. The experience will benefit both commanding officers, regular officers as well as the personnel drafted from the reserve, who will refresh their skills and will get new experience in matters of their preparedness to protect our Motherland,” Major-General Aleksandr Naumenko noted.
