MINSK, 2 February (BelTA) – Outgoing Ambassador of Brazil to Belarus Bernard Klingl said that Belarus has become not only part of his career as a diplomat but also part of his family history as he talked to the media in Minsk on 2 February, BelTA has learned.
According to him, the new Brazilian ambassador is expected to arrive in April. Emphasizing the continuity characteristic of the diplomatic service in his country, he noted: “Even though I will be leaving your country, the overall policy of my country's leadership towards Belarus will remain unchanged.”
The head of the diplomatic mission also noted that during his tenure, Belarus has become not only a part of his professional career but also part of his family history. Ambassador Bernard Klingl has two sons, and they are both dating Belarusian young women. The ambassador does not rule out the possibility that this may lead to marriage.
Speaking generally about his impressions of his stay in the country, he said: “There is nothing I didn't like. Even the weather. It is, of course, not like Brazilian weather. But the Belarusian winter is beautiful; I really like the cold and snow. I also really like the Belarusian summer; it is very comfortable, and I never went anywhere during the summer period, I stayed in Belarus.”
“But the most important thing I will keep in memory after my period of work in Belarus is the kindness and friendliness of the Belarusian people. Unfortunately, I was unable to learn Russian, no matter how hard I tried, but this lack of knowledge was never a problem for me because the people I encountered in Belarus surrounded me with attention, care, and friendliness,” Bernardo Klinger emphasized.
